The Adelaide Hills is cementing itself a reputation for top notch Pinot Noir and if you’ve not tried any from the region here’s your chance, as we think this is brilliant light bodied drinking at the price. It’s the kind of wine that goes well with mushroom and game dishes but really who needs food when a wine is this tasty? It’s a lifted nose of fresh cherry and blueberry with notes of plum and spice, before a silky palate of velvety tannins that ends intense and long.

This Cabernet is not named after Mozart but it’s a fine and harmonious orchestration of flavours that hums an elegiac tune. The Adelaide Hills is not famed for this variety but this wine makes a convincing argument for why it should be taken more seriously. A nicely varietal Cabernet that pleads to be paired with red meat especially lamb for the ultimate taste sensation. Aromas of cassis and tobacco grace the nose with notes of mint chocolate before a textural palate of black fruits, cherry and a savoury complexity.

This flagship wine from Chain of Ponds was named in honour of the last day of postal services at the Chain of Ponds post office in December 1973. That's the end of the history lesson, now down to the wine. Vivid scents of black berries, plums and minty freshness decorate the nose, along wth some tobacco leaf. The palate is powerful with preserved dark fruits, savoury bottle development, and a soft, lush, dry finish. It's the sort of wine you bring out for a birthday lunch with some roast beef.

Admittedly there are few pilots in sight of this wine. Actually, I'm not sure how you'd go landing a plane in the Adelaide Hills. It is quite, erm, hilly...Lucky that the pilot block in question was actually a trial block for alternative varieties (and hence had nothing to do with pilots at all).
