Designed for all floor types, this Dyson upright vacuum cleaner features a motorized brushbar that can be turned on to remove dirt and pet hair from carpets, or turned off to protect rugs and delicate floors. The vacuum cleaner uses Root Cyclone technology to ensure no loss of suction. Dyson proves no loss of suction using the IEC 60312 Cl 2.9 test standard. The unit's pre-motor filter removes particles down to 0.1 micron and can be washed, while its post-motor electrostatic filter, which never needs replacing, traps harmful carbon emissions from the motor.

DC14 Low Reach: Good vacuum, still room to improve

Pros: HEPA, easier to use attachment stick, smaller and lighter, well engineered, solid construction, decent power
Cons: Occasional loud noise, need to fully unwind power cord, no vacuum tracks, useless reach attachment
The Bottom Line: It's the right size, looks cutting edge, has decent power, and a HEPA filter. Go for it.

Dyson 'sucks' up the competition!

Pros: Great suction, ergonomic reach of attachments, easy to push.
Cons: Expensive for a vacuum but more than worth it!
The Bottom Line: Reading actual users reviews of Consumer Reports top rated vacuums contained mostly negative long term statements. I could find very few with the Dyson vacuum. An excellent vacuum.
