JVC's HDD based Everio line has always been promising, but everyone is pining for more room for video, especially in a camera with no way to swap in more media when you're running out of space. JVC is giving up the good stuff with its 30GB MG77 camera. The top of the line MG77 rocks a 2.3 megapixel CCD, a 2.7-inch LCD, and a 10x optical zoom. At the highest quality, the 30GB model records 7 hour of video.

Do you really need this camcorder?

The Bottom Line: Go for something cheapter. Wait awhile for a hard drive camcorder unless you really need it.
