The DMC-FS42 is a compact, point-and-shoot camera in Panasonic's popular Lumix line. You won't be stunned by any of its features, but you won't be disappointed either. They include a 10.1-megapixel sensor, a 4x optical zoom, a 2.5-inch LCD screen, video recording at resolutions up to 848 x 480, and a small handful of expected software features like face detection, though some software features like red eye correction are missing. The FS42 is nearly identical to its cousin the FS62, which has some of those additional software features . It will be available soon through select retailers, but Panasonic hasn't said exactly when or from whom. There's also no word on pricing.
