Sinatra, The Big Apple, and Huge Brown Cadillac
Date of Review: Jan 10, 2000
There's nothing more exciting than driving through the streets of the Big Apple blasting Frank Sinatra in your 1965 Cadillac. Well, if you're not from New York, and you don't own a 1965 Cadillac, Driver can bring them both to your computer screen.
Driver offers four different major cities, New York, San Francisco, Miami, and Los Angeles, with the option of driving during the day or at night. In comparison to other driving games, Driver offers realistic maps with the landmarks intact.
While Driver offers many levels of gameplay, I prefer the Take A Ride level. Take a ride gives you the opportunity to choose your city and choose from the lot of cars, which include a police car, taxi cab, and a brown Cadillac for cruising. The Undercover level is damn-near impossible without using the cheat codes. To begin the Undercover missions the Driver must complete various maneuvers in the training level. I tried to beat the training board at least 100 times, before resorting to cheat codes.
Since I absolute despise missions, I have decided to only play the Take a Ride levels. To experience the thrill of driving through New York, set the stage to night, and pump some Frank Sinatra in the cassette player of that old brown Cadillac. And remember, I want to be a part of it, New York New York.
