Good, But Gets Old Fast

Date of Review: Dec 12, 1999

At first this game seems like it has everything. The game's engine is very good. Once you start playing you probably won't be able to stop for a couple of hours. The city environments are very well designed and driving from one point to another is very entertaining. Plus, the added twist of having cops chase you makes it a very original racing game. However, although the game pretends that there are many different types of missions you can do there is really only one. The only mission that you will ever encounter is: drive from one place in the city to another in a certain amount of time. Even if this mission is disguised as "follow the van" or "make the delivery" or something like that you will not be playing any new mission types. The game is fun to play, but playing "the mission" over and over again gets tiresome fast. Also, the game cannot be saved after every mission, so having to beat five missions accompanied by loading in between can add up to hours between points where the game can be saved. These factors together end up making the game very frustrating. It's good at first, but it's not worth the money.
