The computer crashes more than my ship

I bought this game a year after it came out and had heard so many good things about it I figured it would be on par with other lucasarts games like alliance and tie fighter. I was sorely disappointed.
The game and my computer do not get along, and the game crashes within ten minutes of gameplay. According to the box, it'll work fine with my PC. On the website, they list graphics chipsets not supported by the game. My original factory graphics card, a rage 4mg, was on the list of unsupported cards. I needed to upgrade, so I bought a voodoo2 3000. And with the most recent updates for the game and video card, it still crashes.
