Star Wars at it's Best
Date of Review: Jan 26, 2000
This game is definitely a winner for people of all ages, Star Wars friends and foes alike. This game fulfills all of the requirements for fun. Receiving this game as a gift it has quickly risen to my favorite because of it?s: incredible graphics, realistic story line, ease of play, replay value. Based on the star wars film, this game enables you to pilot old favorites such as the Snowspeeder, X-wing, Y-wing, A-wing, Millenium Falcon and Tie Fighter along with offering new ships that are sure to please such as the V-wing and the Naboo Starfighter. Aside from piloting amazing ships in host stunning 3d levels Rogue Squadron provides realistic player to computer interaction. You actually talk to your wingmen and they tell you loud and clear when they are in need of help.
Rogue Squadron is not just your typical shoot them up game, all the mission follow a story line that links them together and like in Golden Eye you cannot just shoot everything in sight. Certain elements in the game are key to the mission. If you destroy them, you automatically fail.
How many times can you play before you become bored sick? This is the measure of replay value and as an avid gamer I can tell you that this game has a lot of it. There will always be one more obstacle to defeat, one more code to input and one high score to break in this soon to be legendary game. In conclusion I believe that Rogue Squadron has the bang per buck equivalent to C4 and that it's only downfall is it's lack of a multi-player which would truly complete this gaming masterpiece.
