Halo: Combat Dissolved??

Halo, one of the most anticipated games ever made, came out early on the Xbox. It was supposed to be one of the best games ever made. Unfortunately, it wasn't in my eyes.

First, I'll talk about all the eye-candy and things inside the game that everyone loved.

The Graphics. Yea, the graphics were pretty good for Xbox technology...But I mean..they weren't mind blowing. At the time, they were good. And don't get me wrong, some of the things in the game looked great.

The Multiplayer...was...less than stellar. The maps, were pretty big, which is good if you have alot of players. But if you don't, then you are stuck with only a few bland maps that weren't that great. The lack of weapons also took the fun out of the game. I would have liked to see maybe a few more human and Covenant weapons. Point being, when I played the game, I was mainly using either the pistol, the AR, or the shotgun. And the sniper when I found ammo, and the rocket launcher when i found ammo. Those guns were cool and all, but it needed more. Same with the Covenant weapons. They had the plasma rifle, plasma pistol, and the needlet. (excuse me if im forgetting a gun). They also used the swords sometimes to. Aside from grenades, the weapons in the game were lacking.

As far as enviornments go, Halo had some pretty sweet ones. I personally liked the Halo level, and Assault on the Control Room. Those levels provided for some great enviornments.

The vehicles were also pretty sweet...The few vehicles there were..........I did like the Warthog, it was pretty sweet...The Skorpion tank was cool too. But the sad part is, is that those were the only vehicles. It wouldve been nice to have more human vehicles. The covenant had good vehicles however. The banshee was a favorite. The ghost..was alright..

Ok, now about the story. One thing I was appauled to not see in the Halo community was discussion about the story. The story, is essentially the oldest story in gaming history. Its man against alien. Borrrrrrinnnnggg.... I dont know about you guys, but the Alien has gotten to be a boring enemy. At least in games like the Half Life series, they made the whole alien thing somewhat original.



But, overall gameplay was pretty cool I guess. I did enjoy playing the game itself, but it wasn't any new adventure for me....But, seeing as though if you walk into any gaming forum, or any LAN party, or any cyber cafe and you utter the heretical words of "I have not played Halo before," be prepared for a ceaseless barrage of "n0ob!!!" "omg! you retard noob!!...." yeah...the game is really overrated. So, give the game a go if you want, but you aren't missing anything by not playing it. I liked the game, but there wasnt many things that were new in it. Just another game with better grfx.
