It had potential.

Pros:  Fun if you have a LOT patience.

Cons:  graphics, controls, gameplay.

The Bottom Line:  buy the pc version. It is way better and cheaper. Only 10 bucks.

Overall Rating: 1/5 stars

Author's Review

I played Mafia on all 3 platforms. When it was on pc I would give it 5 out of five stars. It had beautiful graphics a great story and solid gameplay. However both the xbox and ps2 versions are exactly the same in terms of graphics and everything else. In this review I will only focus on the xbox version. Lets start with the gameplay.
You play as Tommy Angelo a taxi driver who abruptly enters the world of the Mafia. The year is 1930 and you are in a city called lost heaven. What could you do in the 1930s with the mafia? Why smuggle alchohol! Remember this is prohibition era. Anyway there are 15 missions in the game and 3 of them revolve around smuggling alchohol. The missions have good driving sequences and intense gun battles. Unfortunatly since you cant use a keyboard and mouse it is difficult to play gunfights on the xbox.
In fact gunfights are a complete nightmare on the xbox. If it is you against three guys with Tommy guns you are 99 percent dead. The graphics are pathetic. Compare this to the pc version. It is like comparing heaven and hell, europe and america. I understand about the graphics being this bad on the ps2, but on the xbox they should have looked better!! Lazy developers!!!!!!!
