Better than Wolfenstein? Ha! No way!

Pros:  Looks nice, decent graphics.

Cons:  Insipid story; bad sound; poor rip off of a better game; boring.

Author's Review

Nazis. Everyone hates them, everyone loves to kill them in video games. They are the ultimate symbol of evil on Earth, the greatest enemy the world has ever faced. But killing Nazis alone does not a good game make.

Mortyr is basically aping the old 3d shooter from id Software, Wolfenstein. You travel back in time to fight Nazis (who won World War 2) and, oddly, figure out how they are controlling the weather. That's about as deep as the story gets; the developers did not worry much about Mortyr's plotline.

The graphics are sometimes very nice. Mortyr has its very own engine, and this is probably it's strongest point. But that's pretty much as far as the positives go. The sound is mediocre and annoying. And the AI is awful, one of the dumbest in all of PC gaming.

Avoid Mortyr; pick up Half-Life instead. Hell, dust off your old copy of Wolfenstein 3D instead. Whatever you do, do not buy Mortyr.
