Author's Review
I'm the type of gamer that companies feed off of: make a controversial game, and it's bound to be eaten up by the masses for the "ooh" factor. Especially teenagers, who just have to rebel and buy the latest game because of it's anti-social or violent content (e.g. Carmageddon 2). I however had my doubts with this game even before it was released. "Castle Wolfenstein" has already been done. But alas, I gave this game a chance when a copy was given to me.
Here's the basic plot: The Nazi's won World War 2, and naturally everything in the future is nazi-fied. Your mission is to go back in time and change a few things to un-do what the Nazi's have done. Or in layman's terms, run around and kill everything you see (don't forget to pick up the all important golden keys). Which reminds me, "Doom" has already done. I hate finding keys..it's so bland. On top of that, the animations of the enemies is beyond stiff. I think there's more fluidity in the walking animation given Eric Cartman of "South Park". Almost all of the Nazi's look alike; there is no variety in the so-called "monsters".
On the plus side, Mortyr sports an incredible graphics engine. I wouldn't quite say it's on the same level as "Unreal's" but it's spectacular nonetheless. Whoever designed the scenery in this game should be given an award. It's very artistic stuff. If you can find a way to get a free copy of this game, play it just to see the pretty buildings and churches : )
But don't buy the game.
