Author's Review
I have read some of the reviews on this game and don't want to follow in most everybody else's footsteps. I grant that this game was not a gem but it wasn't that bad was it??? I mean think about all the hoops that the designers had to go through to just get it out on the market. I think it was great that somebody finally picked the design up so it could finally come out in stores. I felt overall that the game was lackluster because of being similar to many shooters out there in game play but did provide a difference in scenery and a vision that almost worked which was refreshing.
My main problem with the game when I started was that it was hard to see things. Everything in the game is dark. I guess it does fit well with the mood but I couldn't even see the bad guys in order to kill them and save myself. This is something that is evident in games like Quake but in them the video settings can be adjusted so that it becomes possible to blast away. I still have not found a way to totally eradicate the issues I have with that particular problem in Mortyr. It made it really hard to see where to climb up from the river so that I could finally enter the building in one of the very first levels.
I thought it was a novel concept to put into a computer game. I mean you don't see every day a place where you are attacked by Nazis and then in a few screens, attacked by space men. It might be zaney but I thought it was a good try. I got so tired of all the same ol same ol attempts at the space monkeys having to kill us and us having to utilize weapons like ray guns or plasma rifles. It was a good break in the action.
The bottom line is if you want to try something different or want to revil in some Nazi nostalgia, give this game a chance. If not, this game is probably not for you.
