great looker, but disappointing gameplay

"In fact, had WWII actually been fought by German soldiers of the same intelligence and accuracy, even the French might have even been able to hold their own. For at least a few weeks. Maybe." This quote sums up the answer to how good is the artificial intelligence is in the game. Soldiers in this game literally run in circles, then shoot at you when they are facing you, then continue to run in random circles. Of course this is not what I expected, when I first saw this game, I thought, "cool, a new Wolfenstein 3D!!" so I had to get it.
I bought the game, and had high expectations when I first ran the game. The opening movie was quite a snoozer, but I don't play games for movies anyhow. The game started with me with a knife, and a German Nazi officer was looking at a window with his back turned to me. So I killed him, but instead of a realistic death scene, I see him spew out blood, and fall instantly dead on the ground, with a big gun where he is for me to pick up, actually, everything is really big, there are huge ammo magazines on the ground, and floating health boxes. Reminds me of the old Quake, and Duke Nukem.
On the up-side, the graphics in the game are terrific. There are weather effects, water, realistic structures, great textures, great lighting, and realistic reflections. However, characters are the big let down.
The enemies are stupid, to put it roughly. Character movements are unrealistic, they run not like they're in a battle, but as if they are in a marathon, and when they die, they very sharply fall flat to the ground almost instantly. Their hands are merely little round balls at the end of their arms, which are overly skinny as if Hitler starved his soldiers.
The sound has it's ups and downs. Some weapons and effect have great sound, but others are poorly done. One big example is the machine gun in the game. This gun shoots 7.62x51 rounds, all on a chain of about 200 rounds, but somehow, it is VERY quiet and does not sound anything like a real machine gun. However, it's effect is not that much of an impact on the game.
All-in-all, if you're looking for a realistic shooter, or at least a unique shooter, look elsewhere, may I recommend Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear?? But if you're a big Quake fan, and love the simple shoot-em-up type games, where you kill, kill, collect key, kill, kill, collect another key, and so on, this is the game for you, with it's terrific graphics and unique levels, this won't disappoint on that part, or maybe you should just get Quake then.
