Compact Gaming at it's Best
Date of Review: Nov 5, 2008
The Bottom Line: The Nintendo DS is a quality product that is an affordable solution to gamers everywhere. Classic Nintendo games are available.
The Nintendo DS compact version is a fantastic rendition of the original GameBoy. It has been updated to contain 2 screens, one touch screen and one regular screen for game play, a built in pen on the underside of the machine that can be used for games like Sudoko, or in use of one of it's other features which is portable chat. The cartridges for this system are similar to the game cartridges of the original gameboy as they are about an inch and a half big and less than a quarter of an inch thick, and plug directly into the system itself. The Nintendo DS also has some new updated features like gameboy to gameboy 2 player gaming that can be enabled if you and somone else near you have a gameboy you can play 2 player or vs. games, also it offers a chat option that has a notebook that you can write and draw on similar to a text feature from a phone.
What I like best about the Gameboy DS is that it is affordable and doesn't require a lot of hardward to use it. I spent about $129.99 on my machine and subsequently each game runs from $20.00-49.99. This is a lot more reasonable than a Playstation Portable which runs about $199.99 and the games at about $30.00-50.00.
As far as the games themselves, there is a wide variety for every gamer from Mario Kart, to Brain Age, to role playing games like Final Fantasy, and The Legend of Zelda. Each of these presented in crystal clear picture quality. Overall I give this machine two very enthusiastic thumbs up.
