The Bottom Line: this is a great handheld console for kids and kids at heart alike. if you prefer nintendo's other game consoles & games to the rest, you'll prefer this, too!
my love for nintendo started the christmas when i was eight or nine, and my dad gifted my older sister and i with the original nintendo console. i played super mario and tetris and became hooked on video games for life. my love of video games is more or less a love of nintendo (with a few, important exceptions), and i will always be a lifelong fan of their products, but my favorites will always be the handheld consoles.
the ds lite is the best handheld videogame console available, and i've tried others. playing video games on phones isn't for me, and while i appreciate the brightness & graphics on the psp, along with the fact that it can do other things, the gameboy is the handheld for me.
the ds lite is nintendo's most recent handheld console and its best.
the ds lite comes in a wide variety of colors (slightly limited in the u.s., but you can order japanese versions in a wider variety of colors), it's small, light (as the name so obviously suggests) and sleek. if you're a fan of accessorizing, nintendo's got that covered, too - a wide variety of stick-ons and cases are also available, or you can customize.
not only good to look at, the ds lite has the best graphics, a beautiful bright screen, and closes - which means those screens won't get scratched up. it also features touch capability for most of its games (on the bottom screen only), a feature that will surely be included in handheld game consoles from now. it is the future, after all!
in addition to all of that, the games for ds are some of my favorites yet. "mario & luigi: partners in time" renewed my love of the mario series (after playing it, i was compelled to play each and every one of the games in the super mario series), "nintendogs" was a revolution in gaming for me and had me talking to and loving my gameboy, and "animal crossing: wild world" had me so hooked that i played it every day for over two years!
my one very tiny complaint with this ds lite is the fact that gameboy advance games stick out of their designated slot when you're playing them - a small, picky little complaint, but one i feel i should note nonetheless.
