DS-The Portable Game System for All Ages
Date of Review: Feb 24, 2008
The Bottom Line: Great Game System-you won't regret buying it.
Well I am an old school gamer who never met a game system I did not like in some way. Love the Wii-who doesn't? But Nintendo has another real winner in the DS. The DS was not an item that I would have normally wanted that is until I saw the DS with the new Zelda game. Wow, what great graphics and original play (nothing else like using the stylus for all movement). This was a system that I wanted-I had to really search too since the system was hard to find but as luck had it some other soul did not want the system and returned the item to the store at the very moment I happened to be searching for the game.
So, after getting this game I set about purchasing a variety of different games to play. This is a wide open area for DS. There are lots of "brain" thinking games that really appeal to the word puzzler in me. Most of these games really are relaxing and really appeal more to the adult gamer than the kids. No joke here-my mother who is well into her 60's asked for (and got) the DS for Xmas after playing with my niece's.
The system is very light weight, holds a decent length charge, has good sound, and most of all has unique play options due to the dual screen and the stylus input. Also many of the available games have great graphics (take a look at Zelda or Star Wars Lego: The Complete Saga); graphics better than you would expect from such a small system.
I recommend this game system to all gamers. If you never thought about it-take a good look-this is one great system.
