Fun, easy to use game console!
Date of Review: Dec 25, 2007
The Bottom Line: I highly recommend getting the Super NES Console if you like good, simple video games!
I have had my Super Nintendo Entertainment System ever since it came out, so that would make it about fifteen or sixteen years old now. I still love it just as much as I did back then.
I am no good at playing the newer "3d" consoles such as the Playstation 2/Playstation 3 and the Xbox/Xbox 360. In fact my husband likes for me to play against him on his Xbox because he knows I will always lose. That's because I find those consoles very difficult to get the hang of.
However, the Super NES is very easy to control, and takes virtually no time to get the hang of. I have had my Super NES since I was a child and I have never had any problems using the controller.
Also, I love the game selection of the Super NES. I am not into first-person shooters, violent games, or sports games, and it seems like all of the games made for those newer gaming consoles fit into one of those categories. However, my Super NES has many fun, family- and child-oriented games such as the Mario franchise, the Donkey Kong franchise, and much more.
The only bad thing about the Super NES is that, as with all older consoles, games are getting harder and harder to find. If you are thinking about purchasing a Super NES, be aware that almost all games you buy must be purchased online, because I know that at least in my area, Blockbuster, GameStop, and EB Games quit selling Super NES games just a few years ago. I have found many Super NES games at flea markets and pawn shops, but I have noticed that they are either in poor condition or way too expensive compared to the games I can find on online auctions.
Overall, the Super Nintendo is a great video game console. I hope I can get at least 15 more years out of mine!
