The Great Game Station

Date of Review: Aug 6, 2005

The Bottom Line:  If you want an older system, buy a SNES, they're easy to love and buy games for.
Super Nintendo is the world's best video game platform. It hardly ever broke being it was so well made. It was easy to keep clean with its good design. It is still popular even today and it most importantly had the best video games to go with it at the time. SNES Ruled the world... Of video games anyway...

Super Nintendo (SNES) never broke because Nintendo took out a lot of the design flaws of the original Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). The original had a crummy load system, and crummy way of loading the video game information and was generally a hunka junk. Not that the NES was bad, but Nintendo made SNES way better. They learned from their mistakes. I know people who had bought their Super Nintendos when they came out and have never had a problem even till this day.

When Nintendo came out with NES, the noticed it had a few design flaws. The came out with a newer version of the NES, a top-loading NES, and that was very popular with the consumers, so Nintendo decided to make their newest console at the time a top-loading game station. They also including a sort of button/switch that popped the game out of the system to make it easier for all the weak little fingers of the video game nerds. Also, the SNES wasn't light, but it wasn't big either. The original NES was moderately heavy and had a lot of empty space inside of it. It was clunky so to say. The new SNES was just as heavy but smaller and less clunky. It just simply made it more convieniant to have and didn't get as dirty on the inside.

The most important feature of the SNES is that it has some of the worlds best games ever to come out. To list a few are Final Fantasy Magic Quest, Final Fantasy III, Contra III, Donkey Kong and so many other games I just can't list them all. They all had amazing graphics for its time and even today the graphics look good enough in a cartoonish way. What I mean to say is that if you take todays game systems like PS2, it is like playing a video game MOVIE, but SNES is like playing a video game CARTOON. There are still some intense nerds out there who will only play SNES not only because they live in their parent's basement, but because the quality is so enticing. The games could hold a lot of information unlike the NES games which could only hold a little info and very basic games. The SNES opened the way for games that had plots. It opened the way for games with action. It was pretty cool.

There are not many cons. In fact there are non. Well yeah the system had few racing games but the ones it had were good. The system was sound. thats all you can ask for in a game system.

Yes my friend. If you were to go out today and buy an antique video game system, I would go for the SNES. The games made are still plentiful and working, the systems are cheap, the games are great and there is a huge video gamer following. You cannot loose with the SNES.
