Nintendo Wii: Good, Clean Fun for All
Date of Review: Mar 9, 2009
The Bottom Line: An excellent system thats emphasis is on excellent and involving gameplay rather than beautifully rendered 3D graphics. A winner every time in my book!!
As Nintendo's flagship item, the strangely named Wii, is still selling strong after many years on the market and with signs of a slow down anytime soon I thought it appropriate to give a short review to this interesting take on the gaming market so that those who don't already know can better understand why it is selling so well.
Pros:
- Unique motion controller
This is the main selling point of the Wii and it is not hard to see why it is so popular. With games often relying on shaking, twisting or otherwise manipulating the controller (and sometimes the NunChuk attachment) it provides a unique element when compared with other gaming consoles.
- Price
Until recently at least, the Wii was far and away the cheapest gaming option though the Xbox 360 as started to close the gap considerably. Given that it is a different gaming experience, this is not a big problem.
- Games
As a rule most games are well suited to the Wii and make great use of the controllers functionality. Some of the best examples include: Mario Galaxy, Wii Sport, Mario Kart Wii and Rayman Raving Rabbids to name but a few. Also, the ability to buy old N64 and SNES games online is a BIG plus!!
Cons:
- Graphics
Whilst suitable for the games, they are not the best available and can occasionally sour the experience on certain games.
Thanks for reading and happy gaming all!!
