My Lumix FZ7
Date of Review: Jul 10, 2006
The Bottom Line: Good lens, fast and responsive, with lots of features, plus excellent image stabilisation
I recently bought my new camera,as I was attracted to it's light weight,Leica lens, and 6mp resolution, and the image stabilisation feature.
I already had a Canon Rebel(300d in UK),and have not used it a great deal,as I find the weight, with a Sigma 28-200mm lens,a bit off putting now,and have always preferred my Fuji S602 when going for day trips, for it's convenience, although the resolution is technically only 3mp,the pictures,at 10 by 8 are always very good.
I have used several 35mm SLR's in the past, but lugging round a bag full of lenses, etc.,as I used to do,is just not necessary now with cameras like the Fz7
The Lumix,I thought, would combine the resolution of the Canon,(with some qualifications,as the Lumix uses a much smaller sensor)but with a longer lens, and even more portable than my Fuji. The ease of use, large lcd,and many features, plus,of course, sharp A4 photoes, have made it a good choice,It's so compact, that you just want to use it!
The camera can be customised easily, and the focussing and metering is spot on almost always, the lens is first class, and the image stabiliser really works, and is almost essential when using large large zoom lenses.
Some reviews mention some noise evident in images, but I have not noticed anything major,in prints up to A3.
All in all,a great buy,and one I am glad I made.
