Swooshing Fun With SSX Blur

by   papasworld ,  Feb 9, 2008
Pros: Great control. Good graphics. Innovative soundtrack. Longevity
Cons: Fiendishly difficult. Less character customization than before.
The Bottom Line: A great franchise arrives for the Wii and it's a winner.
Review: SSX Blur is the fifth incarnation of the classic snowboarding series from Electronic Arts (EA). Previous versions on other consoles such as the PS2 and Xbox were huge successes thanks to their extravagant graphics, pulsating soundtrack, vast array of ...

Wii must have!

by   natyong ,  Jan 2, 2008
Pros: Fun! Good gameplay, fully integrated Wii-remote. Cheap.
Cons: instructions and some functionality is very hard to figure out without someone showing you.
Review: This game is cheap clean fun! Really integrates the Wii-mote and nunchucks into game play. Plot is pretty simple, have fun going down a snow covered hill. You can play as over 10 characters (I believe 7 are initially unlocked) and can use both ...

Difficult to Learn and Even Harder to Master

by   maddogdenny ,  Sep 3, 2007
Pros: A lot of fun...
Cons: ...if you can stick out the steeeeeep learning curve.
The Bottom Line: Controls, controls, controls. Master them, and you'll have a blast with this.
Review: Take a look at all the board games out there: there's the ever strong Tony Hawk series, the original SSX games, and a few others. But really, the games that have dominated have been SSX and Tony Hawk. They've lasted the generations, they keep getting ...

Confusing Snowboarding Game

by   kjscrafts ,  Jul 17, 2007
Pros: Graphics are decent and the concept is nice
Cons: Concept does not play out, awkward controls, lack of clear objectives
The Bottom Line: Ok if you want to spend a while learning to play, but will frustrate those that do not want to devote a long time to figuring it all out.
Review: I rented this a few weeks ago and just played it yesterday. It turned out to be such a disappointment. Partially because I had been hanging onto it so long before getting a chance to play and then did not enjoy playing it. The main thing that I did not ...

Taking the Controls to the next level

by   spooon ,  Jun 14, 2007
Pros: Controls, Controls, and more Controls
Cons: Very steep learning curve
The Bottom Line: This type of gaming experience can only be on the Nintendo Wii. Bright future for the Wii if more games follow this type of control setup.
Review: Blurring the lines between being one of the most difficult games to control to being one of the most satisfying is SSX Blur. SSX Blur comes on strong on the Nintendo Wii to bring on an experience like no other. Background I have only briefly ...

It might as well be called Super Mario Sunshine Snowboard

by   chrisell ,  Mar 6, 2007
Pros: It's an SSX game.
Cons: Bad controls, cartoon characters, bad music, bad interface.
The Bottom Line: SSX Blur is all the previous SSX titles warmed over and Nintendo-ised. With an impossible-to-use control scheme, don't even give this one a rental.
Review: I'm a total SSX bigot. I love the games with their over-the-top tricks and great characters. I can even forgive SSX On Tour for reversing half the controls and putting a crappy soundtrack in the game. So when I heard about a new game in the franchise - ...
