My Favorite Toy
Date of Review: Jul 25, 2005
The Bottom Line: I say if you want something portable that can play just as good as most of the major systems out there, go get it.
I bought a PSP within a few weeks of it coming out.
I have found out that the possibilities are endless with it. There are games you can play, music you can listen to, your favorite pictures to see, and movies you can watch. Also, you can access the internet, download games, and read magazines and books on the psp. It truely is the ultimate multimedia device.
System: Lightweight, sleek design that draws you in. Battery life in my case has been anywhere from 4 to 8 hours. Charging only takes 2 to 2 and a half hours. The headphones are awesome. In fact, I use them for all my portable devices(iPod, etc).
Gameplay: Playing games on the PSP is the ultimate of portable games. When first released, Sony thought that the games would be portable in design. You know, the 15 minutes to an hour of playing a game that has minuturization in mind. It now seems though, like developers are actually putting more into the games then ever, including online play and downloadable content. The gameplay/replay value has shot through the roof on this. A few games I have played have taken 30+ hours to complete. So gameplay is the not the only, but it is the main purpose of this machine.
Movies: I love watching movies on the PSP. Only one problem, there isn't a cable to connect it to your TV yet. This is in the works, but until it is out, you will still have to buy two copys of your movie(UMD and DVD). As far as quality goes, it is excellent. For the screen size, the resolution is very high.
Music: Plays well, and reads ID3 tags. If you have the money to buy a large memory stick, then music becomes more possible.
To end it off, it is overall a great system, and is very versatile. If you love games this is for you. If you love portable systems this is for you.
