by  cxshih,  Feb 26, 2007
Pros: High definition 1080 format, digital stills, HDMI output, Dolby Digital 5.1, harddrive, compact and lightweight
Cons: AVCHD format poorly supported, need Blu-ray player to play AVCHD DVD's
The Bottom Line: If you need the latest and greatest this is the camera for you, although you'll have to wait to edit those High def videos.

Epinions Sony SR1 review and compared to Sony HC3

by  kharin,  Jun 28, 2007
Pros: everything is fantastic but the video jumped too much on hard drive models and dvd
Cons: Caution, reviewers say video could have been better- needs color and less compression 4 the $
The Bottom Line: try it , know about the compression and if you like it then get it. I didn't like compression. be careful! get the hc3 instead
Review: This is sort of like two or three reviews in one (hc3 and Sr1 and UX1). I wrote a long review and decided to change it .... basically they are good if not very good basic hd camcorders. The only thing that is different is the type of compression ...

by  whippingbrady,  Mar 27, 2007
Pros: Mic input. Headphone output. 30 GB Hard Drive. No Tapes.
Cons: Lack of support for AVCHD format.
The Bottom Line: Wait to buy this model until more software supports AVCHD.
Review: I was in the market for a new camcorder. I thought my Hi8 lasted me a good 10 years and it was about time. I tend to buy the best available when I do buy because I know I won't buy again for a while. I didn't want to spend $3000 plus on a professional ...

Epinions Good Camera Poor Editing choices

by  oceandaze,  May 24, 2007
Pros: Easy to Use
Cons: Can NOT use high-end editing software to produce high quality video.
Review: This camera takes very nice video but that is all. The battery life is good. The menu is easy to use but that is where is all ends. Try finding a commercial editing program to do high-end editing. This camcorder does not save video in any standard ...
