Maps out of date

by   turboramjet ,  May 1, 2009
Pros: Works well  Easy to use Map share feature allows to share map corrections online
Cons: Hard to change your planned route. Maps need updating every year$$.
Review: I bought a Tomtom GO720 on 1/28/09.  The maps that came with the unit are already 5 quarters out of date so the mapshare feature won't work.  New maps cost $12 per quarter .  When I visited Chicago, a major hwy (355) wasn't on my ...

The Budding Navigator

by   nachodehopkins ,  Feb 13, 2009
Pros: Screen, Map Share
Cons: Price
The Bottom Line: A few frills and a few features make for an overall wonderful package.
Review: Just recently, I got myself a new GPS unit. Of course my girlfriend got pretty jealous and wanted one of her own. Seeing as how she knows little about electronics and essentially told me to choose and buy the unit for her, I used essentially the same ...

Excellent Unit - once you get over the initial hump

by   jweint ,  Feb 1, 2009
Pros: Once you have properly set it up this unit is fantastic.
Cons: If you are a computer novice, don't bother...you'll never get it stable.
The Bottom Line: It's a fantastic unit once it's properly set up. Don't buy it if you don't know how to move/manipulate files and directories on a PC or Mac
Review: I bought my 720 back in mid-December. Spent a good amount of time reading the tomtomforums website and seeing what other users were going through. The bottom line is that this unit is not for a technical neophyte. There are little tricks to getting ...

Cons: Poor audio instructions outside UK
The Bottom Line: I would definitely highly recommend the Tom Tom GO 720T as a good choice of car satnav
Review: I have owned this satnav for about ten months.  I have used it successfully in the UK, France and Spain.  A great advantage has been finding my way around local roads when arriving close to my destination as well as when departing an unfamiliar ...

Great Product

by   gaget ,  Aug 25, 2008
Pros: Touch screen operation. RDS antenna traffic service. Eventually, bluethooth, maps addition etc.will payoff when needed
Cons: Price. When factoring$260+ for unit and $115+ for the RDS antenna it's quite pricetag.
The Bottom Line: The various functionalities that this product offers is a plus for any GPS and I would definitely recommend it.
Review: I bought this GPS because you could add music or extra maps to an SD card and playt it wirelessly through your car speaker. I was very dissapointed with the static i got. It's possible that it could work differently in another vehicle. Another feature I ...

Buyer Beware

by   jabel45 ,  Jun 25, 2008
Pros: Build quality, styling
Cons: Warranty, support, customer service, software
The Bottom Line: This product should be avoided. Tomtom's software, warranty, and customer service are terrible, which is sad for such a seemingly nice gps unit.
Review: The Tomtom GO 720 is a very nice piece of hardware. It's sleek looking and feels solid and well built. Unfortunately, that is all the good I can say about the product based on my experience with it. My problems with the Tomtom 720 stem from it's very ...

Pros: Compact, easy to use. Lower cost.
Cons: Map display and POI database need help.
The Bottom Line: Depending on your needs and preferences it can be a great buy. If you want more, pay more.
Review: Tom Tom has a nice lineup of GPS units that can save some good money up front. They are usually cheaper than what I consider higher end units and are functional for the intended purpose of helping you find your way. Most complaints about GPS units are ...
