TomTom 910
Date of Review: Apr 23, 2007
The Bottom Line: I recommend this unit although I'm not sure I need 20 GB of HD memory or the European maps. TomTom 510 might be better for most people.
I like this unit very much. My wife likes it which says a lot. A find the window mount system useful (unlike another review). The suction cups locks in and holds the unit steady. The GPS is easily removed from the suction cup mount so the passenger can hold it to find points of interest etc. I like the way the resolution increases as you slow down showing a lot of detail at intersections. It's worked flawlessly for three long distance trips. It hooks up to my computer for downloading latest software and maps. 20 GB hard disk holds photos and music for playback which is nice but I don't use often. Bluetooth phone connection works so you can drive and talk hands free. Auto answer is useful.
One reason I bought this unit is that it works with my Macintosh computer.
I ordered the updated maps and point of interests and it came in two days. I installed and it works fine. The unit did freeze once but with the push of the reset button it started up again without a problem. I called service to ask a few questions and I got through immediately with all questions answered satisfactorily. It works with my PowerMac but not with the MacBook Pro (Intel version). That's what I called about and apparently there is a problem here.
