Pros: Useful and extensive zoom range, optical performance, close-up performance, compact size, light weight
Cons: Light fall-off performance
The Bottom Line: Its huge and useful zoom range, consistent and very good optical performance throughout that range, amazing close-up ability, fairly decent build and handling characteristics make this a good value.

Outstanding quality in a compact design

Pros: Quality glass, VR actually works, crisp and quiet focus
Cons: Price, limited availability has prompted dealers to gouge
The Bottom Line: Superb optics and good range in a size that's just right
