Type of Device

  • The modems are used to connect computer system to remote network. There are several different types of environment they able to connect. See "What is transmission line"for details. Some modems also contain network card (combo).
  • Multi-Modem has several ports and is able to connect to several lines simultaneously.
  • Fax / Voice Interface Cards used in office fax server / phone networks solutions.
  • DSU / CSU provides high speed connection to the digital line (T1/T3).
  • RAS Modem Card is used in the RAS (Remote Access Servers) to receive remote connections from "dial-up" users.
  • WAN Interface Card is used for the network devices (Switches / Routers) to connect to the WAN (Wide Area Network).
  • Analog / Digital Phone Line Converters are used to connect analog devices (as fax or modem) to the office digital phone line.
  • Digital Phone Adapter - allows using existing cellular phone as modem.
